About

Capital City Modern Mopar (C2M2)

This club started after a few of us met online in some of the car forums. After meeting in person and having good times, we started getting together often and formed this club. That small group has grown into what we have today. We try to maintain that same atmosphere and openness in the group that makes it so much fun. As a member, all we ask is that you be respectful of others beliefs, style or interests. Like our Home page says, If you're into speed, style, stereos or keeping it show room stock , this is the place for you. We have no officers & no dues. Since it is supported by 100% volunteerism, it is what you make of it!

Based on the results of the survey, you as a group have selected to meet on the 3rd Saturday night of each month. That will start in February. Plans are to meet at 6pm for dinner and then drive as a group to one of the local car gathering spots. Even months to the North gathering (Currently Pflugerville's Tinseltown gathering). Odd months to a South Austin gathering (Cabela's in Buda). As for mod-days. None are currently set. To set one, we need a place to have it. Any and all ideas are welcome.

*One suggestion was raised and everyone present agreed that this would be a good idea. To have your car in a mod-day and get mods done, you must first participate in a few club events. Those can be road trips or even just a few dinners. The members of our club have performed many complicated modifications (some would cost quite a bit if you went to a shop) at no cost to the owners, only to never see them again.

C2M2 will continue to be a "pay as you go" group. That is to say that if you come to dinner, go to a drag strip or anything else, you pay your own way for the events you wish to participate in.

We would like to have more events & gatherings this year. If you know of something that you want to participate in, by all means, let us know as early as you can and it is likely that others will join in. Car events, fund raisers, youth or elderly focussed groups.

Here are a few events that we hope to have this year:

  • The Heat Wave car show last year was fun and very hot as the name implies. If you are into huge out door shows, this is one that should not be missed. We had mopar kin from other cities join us on our row.

  • Attend more events out of town. We have been to DFWLX, ACLX (San Antonio), CBMM (Coastal Bend /Corpus Christi) and SCLX (Houston).

  • We would like to host a major event of our own in the Austin area. We did this once before (Sept 2007) and it was very well recieved by our Texas Mopar kin.

  • The local club for the vintage Mopar Muscle Cars is interested in joining forces for a couple of events this year.

  • Resurrect the Shiner Drive In event.

  • Create a combined All Texas event for new & old Mopars.

The November Mega Mopar event hosted by John Hennessey (Viper shop) has been a great event to attend in Sealy Tx at his shop & drag strip. It includes a shop tour, drag racing and a car show.
